2020 FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 opening rounds postponed
The opening round for both championship, which was scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of March 2020 at Bahrain International Circuit, was postponed due to safety issues following the widespread COVID-19 virus outbreaks.
Following the growing worldwide diffusion of the new COVID-19 virus, several interactions took place between the FIA, Bahrain International Circuit and the Bahrain Motor Federation. The parties unanimously agreed to postpone the Formula 2 and Formula 3 races that were scheduled for March 21st and 22nd at Sakhir. The promoters took this decision with the goal of preserving the health and safety of the travelling personnel, the spectators and the participants. The decision is coherent with the postponement of the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix. The organizers will continue to work with the race promoters in Bahrain and with the local authorities to monitor the situation and study the feasibility of a possible alternative date throughout the year. Team Trident understands and shares the regret of many fans for not having the chance to see the FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 Championships begin according to the calendar. However, the physical and mental health and the well-being of the team members and the whole community of the two series are the highest priority. Team Trident wants to express its total support to the decision to postpone the start of the season.
