FIA F2 Championship, Budapest, Feature Race Report

The Team Trident drivers could not secure a top-10 position in the first race held in Budapest. Ralph Boschung was forced to retire by the explosion of his engine, while Giuliano Alesi finished in 13th place.

The Team Trident Team drivers couldn’t make it to the points zone in the first race of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Hungaroring near Budapest. Giuliano Alesi, who started from the 13th position on the grid, managed to gain some positions in the first few laps with a good start. The Frenchman’s run on the ups and downs of the Hungaroring was solid, but his pace in the final stages was not fast enough to catch the pack of drivers out front. The second-generation racer thus concluded Saturday’s feature race in the same position he held on the grid. Ralph Boschung had an extremely unlucky day. At his return under the Team Trident banner after a two-race interruption, the Swiss driver started behind the team-mate but was forced to surrender by an engine failure in the closing part of the running. The Sprint Race will start tomorrow morning at 11:25.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager

“Unfortunately, we can't get out of this unlucky moment. Ralph Boschung was forced to retire due to an engine explosion, while Giuliano Alesi's race was smooth, but our driver missed a tiny bit of race pace to be able to attack. Now we must look ahead and prepare tomorrow's Sprint Race with the utmost commitment and determination”.
