FIA F2 Championship, Monza, Feature Race Report
Giuliano Alesi secured a brilliant seventh-place finish at the end of a convincing performance at Monza. The Team Trident driver scored his best result of the season and will start from the front row of tomorrow's Sprint Race.
Lining-up for race 1 at the fast Monza track, Team Trident and Ferrari Driver Academy racer Giuliano Alesi scored a seventh place, his best result of the season. The French rookie started very well and maintained an incisive pace after taking off with the harder-compound "prime" tires. The team's technical staff decided to anticipate his tire change since Alesi was losing valuable seconds behind a slower contender. The second-generation racer showed optimal management in terms of the thermal degradation of the tires in both the first and second stint, ran with the soft compound. In the end, he eventually wrapped up P7, which allows the team and the driver to gain valuable points, momentum and morale. Giuliano will start from the front row in tomorrow's race 2 to repeat today's excellent performance in front of Team Trident's home crowd. The Sprint Race will start at 10:50.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager
“We are super happy for Alesi's race today. Our driver ran a very convincing race and managed the tire degradation optimally. We anticipated the pit-stop for tire change since he was losing time behind a slower rival. In the final part of the race, Giuliano was simply perfect and achieved an excellent seventh position, which is also key in raising the team's morale."
