FIA F2 Championship, Sochi, Feature Race Report

Team Trident drivers did not secure the points zone at the Russian track. Ending a solid race, Giuliano Alesi ended up in 13th and 14th place respectively.

In the first race of the FIA Formula 2 Championship on the Russian track of Sochi, home to the eleventh and penultimate round of the season, the Team Trident drivers, Giuliano Alesi and Ralph Boschung, delivered a solid middle pack race, without being able to secure the points zone. As for Alesi, the Frenchman started from the seventh row and was forced to pass off-line in the very first stages. The Ferrari Driver Academy racer, like other rivals, had to serve a five-second penalty during the pit stop. Returning to the track, the twenty-year-old ended the Feature Race in thirteenth place.

Ralph Boschung's race was also decidedly solid in its pace Boschung, who ran behind his teammate and finished in the 14th position. In today's run, the positions on the starting grid were confirmed in the race, and the Team Trident drivers were no exception. Now the team's goal is to leave the circuit overlooking the Black Sea with a convincing Sprint Race, which will start tomorrow morning at 11:20 local time.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager

"There is not much to point out about today's race. Our cars did not make it to the points zone after starting from the seventh and eighth row on the grid. Our drivers did not have any particular problem, but their pace didn't allow them to recover in a race where qualifying values were largely confirmed by the outcome.”
