F3 TRIDENT - DRIVER ANNOUNCEMENT 2020

Team Trident selects Lirim Zendeli for 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship

The 20-year-old driver, born in Bochum, will make his debut with Team Trident by entering his sophomore season in the Formula 3 Championship. A young and talented German prospect, Zendeli dominated the ADAC F4 championship in 2018 and now wants to establish himself among the frontrunners of F3 racing.

20-year-old German racer Lirim Zendeli will enter the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Team Trident. The young driver, born in Bochum, had the chance of meeting the technical staff of the Italian squad on the last 22nd of October when he drove for Team Trident in the third day of postseason testing at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.

Zendeli made his FIA Formula 3 Championship debut in 2019 scoring six points and the 18th place in points, but his move will propel him to a team that has often enabled its drivers to fight among the championship challengers. He has a great resume to back up his effort. In 2018, he cruised to the ADAC Formula 4 title with an impressive log of 10 wins, 13 podiums, 8 pole positions and as many fastest laps.

Zendeli repeatedly showed that, with a competitive car, he can be a challenger for wins and is a good candidate for a championship-contending run. The FIA Formula 3 Championship will start from the Sakhir track in Bahrain on the 21st and 22nd of March 2020. After falling in love with racing on the Herne track at the age of 10, Zendeli, who is a great soccer and taekwondo fan, is ready for a pivotal season.

“ I am super delighted to announce that I will go racing in FIA Formula 3 with Trident in 2020. After testing with the team in Valencia it was totally clear to me that I really would like take my career onto another level with this traditional and experienced team. I am convinced that we can achieve many very good results and I’ll give everything to bring some trophies to the teams headquarter in Milano! Grazie ragazzi per la fiducia!”

Maurizio Salvadori, Owner Team Trident

“Last year we watched Zendeli with great attention in the Formula 3 championship and even though he didn’t get particularly important results, his skills favourably impressed us. I am delighted of having him in the 2020 Team Trident line-up. I am sure he will be among the leading drivers, and that he will become one of the stars of the season. He has already driven a Team Trident car in last October’s postseason test at Valencia. Even if he was with us for only one day, we appreciated his driving talent, his sensible attitude and his absolute professionalism.”
