Trident Motorsport enters points zone with Roman Staněk, Zane Maloney

In the Sprint Race held on the wet at the Hungarian track, the Czech and Baian finished ninth and tenth respectively. However, Trident Motorsport lost one position in the team ranking, where it now holds fifth place.

The FIA Formula 3 Championship started its sixth round of the season on the winding track of Budapest, as the F3 cadets took part in the Sprint Race. The Feature Race, the main one, is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:05 a.m. local time. In the qualifying session, Trident Motorsport delivered a positive performance, but the results were affected by a red flag at the end that did not allow several drivers to improve. Zane Maloney, Roman Staněk, and Jonny Edgar took P2, P14, and P15 respectively. The second place by the Barbados-born driver indicates a solid and consistent level of performance from the team's cars, which, without the interruption, would have ended up with an overall better result. The Sprint Race had a rolling start due to heavy rain, with the cars lined up behind the safety, which soon re-entered the pit lane giving the actual start. The track presented heavily changing conditions as the tarmac gradually dried out. It was not easy for the teams to identify the most appropriate setup. Trident Motorsport did not have an easy time in its recovery to the points zone. Roman Staněk and Zane Maloney started from P14 and P11 respectively, finishing in P9 and P10. Jonny Edgar, on the other hand, recovered from P15 to P13.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, commento Sprint Race

"The weather conditions affected today's race, as the red flag in the qualifying session impacted the result of and, as a consequence, the starting grid. On a track with constantly-changing conditions, and gradually getting dry, it was difficult to have an optimal set-up for the cars today. We did not have the best set-up and the lower results compared to our standards were a natural consequence. Staněk and Maloney eventually managed to claim the points zone, while Jonny Edgar finished in P13. Now we are aiming for a stronger result in tomorrow's Feature Race, when Zane Maloney will start from the front row on the grid."
