FIA F3 Championship, Zandvoort, Race 3 Report

In the final race at the Dutch venue, Trident Motorsport cruised to another podium finish with Clément Novalak, who sealed second place. Today's result propels the Frenchman to the third position in the driver championship behind teammate Jack Doohan, who was fourth in race 3. David Schumacher delivered an outstanding performance holding second place for most of the running before being punted off by another driver.

In Race 3, the final one for the FIA Formula 3 Championship at the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort, the Trident Motorsport drivers proved again remarkably competitive. Clément Novalak took a positive second place, repeating the same result he achieved in Race 2 yesterday. With his double podium, the Frenchman successfully climbed up to third place in the driver championship.

It was not a particularly lucky race for Jack Doohan, who could have achieved a better result than a fourth place. The Gold Coast driver, who started from the second row, was hit by another car on the first lap and lost a couple of positions. In the end, Doohan took advantage of some retirements to climb back to fourth place. P4 allowed him to stay in the title race ahead of the final round of the season. Now 43 points separate Doohan from the top of the ranking.

Despite having to retire with three laps to go, David Schumacher deserves great praise. The German second-generation racer, who started from the front row after setting the second-fastest lap time in qualifying, held on to P2 until three laps to go when he was pushed off the track by another driver and forced to retire.

With an excellent team result, Trident Motorsport strengthened second place in the team championship. The team is also holding second and third place in the driver classification with Doohan and Novalak. F3 will take a small break now. The series will be back running at Soch on the last weekend of September. Trident Motorsport will aim for another high-level showing to stay in the hunt for the titles until the final race.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, commento Race 3

“Even if we didn't manage to fight for the lead, today's team performance has been a rewarding one. Novalak scored a brilliant second place which enabled him to climb up to the third spot in points behind teammate Doohan, who had to settle for P4 following contact from behind by another driver in the opening lap. Schumacher put up a remarkable drive this weekend. After claiming second place in qualifying, he kept the same spot until he was pushed off by another driver with three to go. Without those two episodes, which did not favour us, our team could have set an even better score. Now we have to work hard for the final round at Sochi, where we will be fighting for both the driver and team championship."
