Austria, sixth symphony in the Styrian heights

Austria, sixth symphony in the Styrian heights

After the week-long break, the FIAFormula 2 Championship will face the sixth round of the season in Austria next weekend. The silence of the green Styrian hills will be shattered by the engines of the single-seaters, which will rev up for the second back-to-back round of the second series, to be concluded seven days later at Silverstone. Trident Motorsport arrives at the Red Bull Ring aiming for a competitive and convincing performance, in line with its positive start to the season.

After the encouraging results achieved at the Catalan circuit of Montmeló, where both drivers of the Ossona-based team scored points in the Feature Race, it's time to build on this success in the Austrian hills.

Fresh from a fifth-place finish in the Feature Race at Montmeló, Laurens Van Hoepen will aim to continue his positive run in Speilberg. The 20-year-old Dutchman currently sits eighth in the overall FIA Formula 2 Championship standings.

In Spain, John Bennett moved up the standings, scoring his first points finish of the season. The 22-year-old Englishman performed a series of impressive overtaking moves in Sunday's longest race, earning him seventh place.

Now, the Trident Motorsport drivers will be facing a track diametrically opposed to the Spanish one. Only 4.318 km long, the Red Bull Ring features long straights, several elevation changes, and slow and medium-speed corners where good traction on exit is crucial.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager at Trident Motorsport: “The Spielberg round comes at an important stage of the season. After what we sshowed in Spain, where we achieved our best team score of the year, we aim to improve further. We have prepared with the utmost determination for the trip to the Red Bull Ring, knowing we cannot afford any mistakes, starting with qualifying, which is always crucial.”

The engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship cars will start on Friday at 11:05 a.m., with the 45-minute free practice session. Qualifying also takes place on the same day, starting at 3:55 p.m. The Sprint Race will take place on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 10:10 a.m. All track action will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F1.
