Both drivers out of the points in Monaco's first race

The FIA Formula 2 Championship has opened the fifth event of the season on the fascinating and treacherous city track of Monaco, which saw the drivers of the junior formula competing in the Sprint Race on Saturday.

For Trident Motorsport’s Max Esterson, the weekend in Monaco proved challenging after a mistake did not allow him to contest most of the free practice session. Despite the few data available, the twenty-two-year-old American managed to progress well in qualifying, setting the ninth time in his turn. Starting from the 16th position on the grid in the Sprint Race, Esterson made a good comeback to finish the race thirteenth.

Fast at the end of free practice, Sami Meguetounif could not repeat himself in qualifying. The twenty-year-old from Marseilles did not set correctly the brake balance, finishing the qualifying session in 19th position overall. In the Sprint Race on the narrow track of the Principality, Meguetounif crossed the finish line in sixteenth place.

Now the technical staff of Trident Motorsport will use the data collected in the Sprint Race in the usual preparation work for the Feature Race, scheduled for Sunday at 9:40 am.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Principal: "Today, our drivers contested a solid race, but were penalized for the back positions on the starting grid. Esterson performed a good comeback, showing a decent pace.  Meguetounif, on his side,  remained too much time engulfed at the back at the back of the group.”
