F2 is back on track this weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit

The FIA Formula 2 Championship is back on track this weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir for the second round of the season. Trident Motorsport and its drivers Sami Meguetounif and Max Esterson are preparing to face the first full week, as rain forced the race direction to cancel the Feature Race at the opening round in Melbourne.

The objective in Bahrain is to have a competitive weekend and score the first points of the season. Fast and technical, the Sakhir track winds along a length of 5,412 km. Trident Motorsport’s technical staff had the opportunity to work fruitfully with the drivers during the tests that took place from 26 to 28 March. The sessions allowed the two rookie drivers to acquire a good amount of data and information towards what can be considered a valid test bench to verify the state of form of the team and its drivers.  It will be important to optimize the set-up to tackle the slow corners, where mechanical grip is needed, and the high-speed ones that are taken flat out. The wind and the sand brought onto the track are another feature to be kept into consideration on this desert-located track.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, says: “After the trip to Melbourne, where the Feature Race was canceled due to rain, Sakhir will be the first full event of the season. We had a promising test session on the desert track, and we aim at having a competitive weekend and moving up the standings. Still, results will depend on the quality of the work that we the drivers and the technical staff will be able to achieve”.

The engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship cars will start on Friday at 12:05 when the 45-minute free practice session is scheduled. Qualifying is scheduled for the same day at 16:55. Saturday will be the turn of the Sprint Race, at 17:15. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 14:25. The on-track activity will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F.1. Times are expressed in local time, CET +1.
