FIA F2 Championship, Abu Dhabi, Race Preview

The FIA Formula 2 Championship will line up for round 8 of 2021, the closing one of the season. Once again, Yas Marina will host its traditional series finale. Trident Motorsport drivers Bent Viscaal and Marino Sato will aim at scoring valuable points to improve their championship situation, as well as the team's position in points.
The FIA Formula 2 Championship will be entering its final event of the year at Yas Marina in the Emirates. The series will then host a post-season test during the following week, as teams will start preparations for 2022 by trying new drivers. The Yas Marina event is scheduled just seven days after the previous event at the semi-permanent Jeddah track, which saw Trident Motorsport claim second place in Sprint Race 2 with Bent Viscaal. The goal for the Trident Motorsport drivers will be to improve their championship position and contribute to the team classification, where some of the contending squads are battling in close contact.
The Abu Dhabi circuit was recently revised and is now 5.2-km long. The upgrades created a more flowing layout with increased passing opportunities. Slight banking was also introduced in one of the corners. The changes reduced the length by 273 meters.
Trident Motorsport is expecting a high-level final round of the season from both drivers. They worked hard with the team's technical staff to prepare for the event, with the goal of confirming the consistent growth shown throughout the year.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager:
We line-up for the final round of the championship with good vibes coming from the growth we experienced throughout the season, and that eventually handed us two second places at Monza and Jeddah. We want to continue our positive trend on the revamped Abu Dhabi circuit. Our goal is to secure valuable points and move ahead of some of our contenders in the team championship.
The FIA Formula 2 Championship cars will head for the track for the first time on Friday at 11:35, for the 45-minute practice session. Qualifying will happen later the same day at 18:30. Sprint Race 1 will be on Saturday at 12:20, followed by Sprint Race 2 at 18:45. The Feature Race will wrap up the weekend on Sunday at 13:00. The Sky Sports networks will cover the entire track activity. All times are local, CET+3.
