FIA F3 Championship, Silverstone, Round 5, Race One Report

In race one of the second consecutive round held at the Northamptonshire track, Team Trident got to the points zone with Beckmann, who was P6, and Zendeli, who finished in P10. The German driver bolstered his third place in points, while Olli Caldwell finished in arrears.

In the opening race of the fifth round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, the Team Trident drivers showed great pace and improved the results they had got seven days earlier, also at Silverstone. The overall result for the Italian squad was conditioned by the qualifying session, which saw Beckmann, Zendeli and Caldwell respectively take P8, P10 and P23. Beckmann, who is the third force in the championship ranking, delivered a consistent and solid race, in which he managed to climb up to the fifth place. The German driver handled tire degradation very well and put up a competitive pace in the closing stages. Zendeli also performed well in Race One and fought well within the top ten. With his tenth position, he will start from the top of the grid in Race 2 tomorrow morning. The Team's goal will be to be back to victory again. As for Olli Caldwell, the British racer gave everything he had but his final result was affected by the outcome of qualifying. Now the team is busy preparing for the second race which will start tomorrow morning at 8:45 local time.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager:

“We are quite happy with the result we got in today's race. Beckmann and Zendeli, starting respectively from eighth and tenth place on the grid, could hardly have done more. Zendeli maintained the position he scored in qualifying and will start from the front row on the grid of race 2. Beckmann's performance was also very consistent. He managed the tires well in the mid-race phase and had a very competitive pace at the end. The goal for tomorrow is to be back to the top step of the podium. Caldwell's race was conditioned by the result of qualifying: he really did his best”.
