FIA F3 Championship, Silverstone, Round 5, Race Two Report

The second race held on British soil confirmed the great form of Team Trident, which ended up second with Lirim Zendeli and fourth with David Beckmann, who strengthened third place in the driver championship.

The second race held at Silverstone signed off the second and final round of the double challenge on consecutive weekends at the English track. After leading the race for its most part, Lirim Zendeli was on the receiving end of a decisive last-lap attack which relegated him to P2. Despite the remarkable result, there is some disappointment for the Bochum-born driver who took the second podium of the season. So Team Trident lost the chance to take home the team’s third consecutive Sprint Race win at the last gasp, as it was hoping to continue after the victories collected by David Beckmann in Budapest and Silverstone seven days ago. Beckmann, who confirmed himself as the third force in the championship, has long fought for third place. A crash and some tight battles forced him to a less incisive pace and prevented him from going beyond fourth place, with a great fight with Lawson settled at the photo-finish. It was another race at the back end of the pack for Olli Caldwell at his home track. The British racer lost time due to an off in the grass caused by being pushed by a rival and finished in P20. The F3 is set to continue at a high pace. A challenging trip to the Montmelò track is scheduled for next weekend, a technical track that will require careful preparation work, with the aim for Team Trident to remain at the top of the series.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager:

"We are leaving Silverstone with the bitterness for a win that vanished at the last lap, but with an overall positive balance. Zendeli took second place and found the way to the podium again, while by ending up in fourth place, Beckmann confirmed his third place in the championship. We gained valuable points for the driver and team classifications. Unfortunately, Caldwell was pushed off the track by another car early. Now we are looking forward to remaining at the top of the series at Montmelò.”
