FIA F3 Championship, Spielberg, Round 2, Race One Report

Team Trident posted a brilliant performance, placing three cars in the top-4 of race 1 at Red Bull Ring, as the second round of the season in Styria was hit by heavy rain.
The opening race for the second round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, which is running for the second straight week at Red Bul Ring, saw the Team Trident drivers perform at excellent levels. The great shape of the Italian squad's stalwarts was clear from qualifying as Beckmann, Zendeli and Caldwell took the second, fourth and eighth place on the grid respectively. The weather conditions completely changed before Race 1, which started under very dark skies. The rain fell with increasing intensity as soon as the lights went off. Zendeli delivered a lightning-fast start and quickly moved up to the second place, with teammate Beckmann in close pursuit. The two German drivers maintained their positions until the end, which came early as the race was stopped with the red flag for safety reasons, due to incidents that had occurred. Olli Caldwell posted a noteworthy result too. The young British racer mastered the art of overtaking despite the treacherous track surface. He definitely delighted the TV audiences and was acclaimed by the team after completing a series of well-timed manoeuvres all the way up to the fourth place. Since the race was stopped shortly after reaching half of its distance, half points were awarded. Nonetheless, the Team Trident strengthened its second place in the team standings. Now the three drivers will analyze the data collected with their technical staff as a preparation for the second race which will start tomorrow morning at 9:45 am.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager:
“I am extremely satisfied at the end of one of the most amazing and convincing performances from our drivers. Getting the second, third and fourth position in a championship with 30 so competitive cars is not accidental and confirms the excellent work done by the whole team and by the drivers. My congratulations to them! Nobody made the slightest mistake. I only regret that the early suspension of the race led to the attribution of half the points. Now we have to stay focused and try to confirm our pace in tomorrow's race 2”.
