Good points for Wurz and Câmara

Good points for Wurz and Câmara

The FIA Formula 3 Championship returned to the Monte Carlo street circuit, home to the fourth round of the 2025 season. In a qualifying session held on slippery asphalt, and with the cars divided into two groups to avoid possible risks due to overcrowding on the track, the Trident Motorsport drivers had mixed fortunes.

Charlie Wurz took a good fourth place in his session and seventh overall.

Very fast in free practice, Rafael Câmara unfortunately failed to materialize at the decisive moment. Thwarted by an opponent in his final push, the Brazilian had to settle for eighth overall. In addition, the championship leader was given a three-place penalty, to be served on both the Sprint Race and the Feature Race grids, for an excessive delta time during the red flag.

The weekend started off uphill for Noah Strømsted. Having gone off the track in the final minutes of the free practice session, the seventeen-year-old Dane was unable to gain confidence with the track on new tires. This was reflected in the qualifying result: fifteenth fastest time overall.

Due to the inversion of the first twelve qualifying positions on the starting grid of the Sprint Race, Wurz started from fifth place. However, the son of art was unable to hold the position, slipping to sixth ahead of his teammate Câmara due to a team-related problem. The intervention of the safety car, called into play due to a contact in the early stages of the race, brought the forces back together on the field. Despite this, the narrow street circuit of Monte-Carlo did not allow Wurz and Câmara to improve their positions. The two Trident Motorsport drivers finished the Sprint Race in sixth and seventh place respectively, scoring a total of nine points for the team.

Strømsted was involved in contact with an opponent at the Sainte-Devote braking point, which forced the Dane to retire.

With the first race on Monegasque soil now behind them, the Trident Motorsport drivers will analyse the data collected today with the technical staff in the usual preparation work for the Feature Race, scheduled for tomorrow at 8:00 local time. After the race held in the Principality, Rafael Câmara maintains first place in the standings with a twenty-three point advantage over the first of his pursuers.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “Today’s Sprint Race didn’t have much to offer. We know that in Monaco it is very difficult to overtake and the position on the starting grid affects the final result. Charlie Wurz had a problem at the start due to the team and, for this reason, lost a position. Rafael Câmara limited the damage, doing everything he could. Unfortunately, Noah Strømsted had a contact that forced him to retire”.
