Grand finale in the United Arab Emirates
The time has come for the final round of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship. Next weekend, the fourteenth round of the season will take place at the Yas Marina circuit in the United Arab Emirates. Furthermore, as per tradition, the circuit located on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi will also host the post-season test, which teams typically use to gain experience with the drivers competing the following season.
Trident Motorsport arrives at the final round of the season with a partially revised lineup. Laurens Van Hoepen, who made his debut in Baku, will be joined by rookie Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak. While this will be the Rotterdam driver's third race at the wheel of an F2 single-seater, it will be the first ever FIA Formula 2 Championship appearance for the Thai driver.
Neither driver is familiar with the 5.281 km Yas Marina circuit in a Formula 2 car. Therefore, it will be important for both drivers to get the most out of Friday's free practice session, avoid mistakes, and lay the foundations for a competitive qualifying session.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Principal: "We're going to Yas Marina with the goal of having a competitive weekend. The UAE circuit is technically demanding and not easy to understand, especially with two drivers who are making their first outings in the category. It will be crucial to work well in the free practice session and prepare as best as possible for qualifying."
The engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship cars will start on Friday at 11:05 a.m., with the 45-minute free practice session. Qualifying is scheduled for the same day, starting at 3:00 p.m. The Sprint Race will take place on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend and the 2025 season, will start on Sunday at 1:15 PM. All track action will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F1, with all times shown in local time (GMT +4).
