Heading to Silverstone with great determination
Without a moment's rest: the FIA Formula 2 Championship is preparing for the seventh round of the season at the historic Silverstone circuit. The technical and demanding English track will host the second back-to-back of the championship for the junior single-seater formula. After a solid weekend at the Red Bull Ring, Trident Motorsport arrives in Great Britain aiming to build on the progress shown in Austria.
The Milan-based team, with operations based in Ossona, arrives at Silverstone fresh from a resounding victory with John Bennett in the Sprint Race in Styria. The twenty-two-year-old Englishman's maiden win also rewards the team's hard work since the start of the season.
Bennett's first podium in the junior category also represents a significant confidence boost ahead of his home round, with the Englishman eager to perform well in front of his home crowd.
Laurens Van Hoepen also arrives in Great Britain with encouraging signs. After a more difficult qualifying session than expected, the 20-year-old Dutchman was able to react in the Feature Race at Silverstone with a strong comeback that allowed him to finish in the points.
Redeveloped from a former Royal Air Force airfield, Silverstone is one of the most technical and fastest circuits in the entire FIA Formula 2 Championship. Famous corners like Maggots, Becketts, and Copse put drivers and cars to the test. Meanwhile, the British weather can quickly change track conditions, making the work of the team and drivers even more difficult.
Giacomo Ricci, Trident Motorsport Team Manager: “We arrive at Silverstone after a solid weekend in Austria, where we scored a strong win in the Sprint Race with John Bennett and a good comeback in the longer race with Laurens Van Hoepen. These results confirm the team's growth, but we know that the English circuit represents a very demanding challenge. The goal will be to consolidate the good results we've shown since the beginning of the championship and have another competitive weekend.”
The engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship cars will start on Friday at 10:00 a.m., with the 45-minute free practice session. Qualifying will take place that same day, starting at 2:55 p.m. The Sprint Race will take place on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. All track action will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F1.
