Hungaroring, double leadership to be strengthened

After the weather-unstable Spa-Francorchamps, the FIA Formula 3 Championship will face a new and important challenge next weekend on the tortuous Hungaroring track. The round on the Magyar circuit, located just outside Budapest, will be a crucial event for Trident Motorsport’s championship, given that this will be the penultimate round, ahead of the season’s finale in Monza.
The Milanese team, with headquarters in Ossona, arrives in Hungary leading the Teams' championship standings, just as Rafael Câmara holds a firm lead in the overall Drivers' standings with a twenty-eight-point gap over his closest rivals.
The rain, which led to the cancellation of the Feature Race in Spa-Francorchamps, prevented the twenty-year-old Brazilian from further extending his lead. Likewise, Noah Strømsted, who scored a magnificent victory in the Sprint Race, and Charlie Wurz, who finished on the podium on Saturday, were unable to secure further points given the cancellation of Sunday's race.
With the Belgian round behind them, the Trident Motorsport drivers will now face a completely different circuit. Characterized by a series of medium-to-slow corners, the Hungaroring track features only short straights. Furthermore, the typically high temperatures will impact the cars' performance and tire degradation.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: "Next weekend will see the final part of the back-to-back roundsthat precede the August break. The Hungaroring circuit is very demanding, and the gaps will be minimal. The quality of execution will be a determining factor in the outcome of the Hungarian races. Our goal is to have a competitive weekend that will put us in the best possible position in the standings ahead of the finale in Monza."
The engines of the FIA Formula 3 Championship cars will start on Friday at 9:55 a.m., with the 45-minute free practice session. Qualifying is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. that same day. The Sprint Race will take place on Saturday at 10:05 a.m. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. All track action will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F1.
