Hungary's weekend ends with a result outside the top ten

The Feature Race, which concluded the tenth round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship season, held on the track just outside Budapest, had a pretty straightforward run for the Trident Motorsport drivers. On a circuit like the Hungaroring, where overtaking is traditionally difficult, the qualifying result inevitably affected the final outcome of the race.

Sami Meguetounif, starting from eighteenth on the grid, immediately attempted to push his way forward. Taking advantage of the softer tire compound, the twenty-year-old from Marseille climbed to fifteenth place before the Virtual Safety Car was deployed following contact in the midfield.

At the restart, Meguetounif was again in combative mode, gaining another position. A second neutralization effectively slowed the Frenchman's comeback, and after resuming the race, he opted to pit for Prime tires. Meguetounif then consolidated his position, crossing the finish line in fourteenth place.

Max Esterson also made a strong start at the Hungaroring from twentieth on the grid, as the twenty-two-year-old American worked his way up to eighteenth place. Esterson used a similar strategy to his teammate, starting the first half of the race on the soft compound. Switching to Prime, the American finished the race in nineteenth place.

With the Hungarian weekend concluded, the FIA Formula 2 Championship is now taking about a month off. The next round of the series is scheduled for the first weekend of September at the Temple of Speed in Monza.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “We weren't able to improve our positions and get into the points. The Feature Race also didn't offer us much of a chance, with strategies aimed at reversing the qualifying result, where our drivers lacked pace and fell behind. Now we have a month to recharge our batteries and return in better shape for our home round in Monza, where we're particularly keen to do well.”
