The FIA F3 Championship will face the last round of the season in Monza

The FIA Formula 3 Championship will line up for its final season this weekend in Monza. At the historical Italian venue, Trident Motorsport will aim to secure the driver and team titles in front of its home crowd.

The final round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship is about to go underway at Monza. The Italian event is highly anticipated as it will be crowning the driver and team champions. Trident Motorsport's 18-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto has been leading the title chase since the beginning of the season, and now has a 38-point gap on his closest competitor.

It is a significant margin, and Bortoleto will have to seal the deal without getting caught in the challenging competition dynamics of the venue. He has so far secured two wins, five podiums, one pole position and two fastest laps. It is an impressive score, although, coming from a challenging weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, Bortoleto will need to be extremely focused. Back in Belgium, the young driver managed by Fernando Alonso had a pointless weekend, although the same fate was shared by most of his competitors.

Leonardo Fornaroli will line up at his home track. The 18-year-old from Piacenza is ninth in the championship and claimed improving results throughout the season. He secured three podiums and one pole at the tough Silverstone track.

Last but not least, German driver Oliver Goethe has the same amount of points as Fornaroli in the standings and will aim for his second win of the season. A season that saw the London native deliver impressive showings but lack a bit in terms of consistency.

Trident Motorsport is second in the team championship, 25 points away from the leader. A high-level team performance will be needed to make a late jump to the front.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: "We are looking forward to performing in front of our home crowd for the deciding race of the season. We will have to keep the maximum focus, considering the importance of the Monza event, which will award the driver and team titles. We have put up a high-level performance throughout the championship and we cannot allow ourselves distractions in the finale.  Bortoleto has a good lead in the driver championship. Now we need to be extra solid to finalize the work of an entire year. We will certainly not give up on the team championship too. We have all the resources we need to achieve our goal, but we will need the contribution of all drivers!"

The FIA Formula 3 Championship weekend will start on Friday, as 45 minutes of free practice will start at 9:40 a.m. Qualifying will be in the afternoon at 15:05, while the Sprint Race will kick off on Saturday at 9:25.  The Feature Race, which will sign off the weekend and the whole 2023 season, will start on Sunday at 8:15. All the action will be broadcasted live by the Sky Sports F1 network.
