Imola, aiming at a competitive performance on home track

Next weekend in Imola the engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship single-seaters will be re-started in view of the fourth round of the season. After a four-week break, following the last round in Jeddah, Trident Motorsport is approaching the first home race of the year with renewed optimism. The stage for the first round of the championship on European soil, Imola, is an “old school” circuit. As fast, with a long main straight, as it is technical, the Romagna track leaves no margin for error given the close sand traps. Last year the team based in Ossona managed to get into the points zone in both races, which is certainly a good sign for its current two representatives, Sami Meguetounif and Max Esterson.
Despite having shown good potential, so far both drivers have paid the price due to their inexperience in the series. But for Meguetounif there is a good precedent. In fact, it was on the Imola track that the twenty-year-old from Marseille took his first win in the FIA Formula 3 last year. Furthermore, for Trident Motorsport, next weekend's event is the first one taking place in front of the home crowd, and the closeness of the fans will certainly offer an extra incentive to give their all in Imola.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: "Up to this point we have not yet achieved the results expected in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Our goal in Imola is to have a competitive weekend and move up our standings. The track along the Santerno is a demanding one, which leaves little room for error. The preparation work for the Imola race has been meticulous and accurate: it is important that our drivers quickly find a good feeling with the car and the track, in order to have a good qualifying, an aspect that is making the difference in this very competitive season. We have good potential, I am sure that we can do well".
The engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship single-seaters will start on Friday at 11:05, when the 45-minute free practice session is scheduled. Qualifying is scheduled for the same day, at 16:00.
Saturday will be the turn of the Sprint Race, at 14:15. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 10:00. The on-track activity will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F.1.
