Imola, Trident makes it to the points zone with Richard Verschoor
The Feature Race wrapped up round 4 of the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship today at Imola, and Trident Motorsport was able to get into the points zone again with Richard Verschoor, who finished in tenth place. The 23-three-year-old Dutchman had posted P15 in qualifying after not finding the right lap. He started the Feature Race with a set of Option tyres, before switching to Primes in the second stint, and put up a solid race pace that allowed him to score points for the fourth time in 2024.
Roman Staněk had a remarkable race, as he fought with championship leader Zane Maloney for most of the day. He lost ground in the final stages after going over the kerbs of the Tamburello chicane while trying to resist the attacks of his Barbadian rival. The Czech racer had put up a notable performance in qualifying, recording the seventh-fastest lap time.
The series has now entered its busiest stint and there is no time for teams to take a break. One of the most anticipated events of the year is starting next weekend on the fascinating streets of Monte Carlo, home of round 5.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, Feature Race quote: “As in the Sprint Race, we scored points with Richard Verschoor, who finished his Feature Race in tenth place. It is not the result we were aiming for in our home race, but the 15th place in qualifying by the Dutchman certainly impacted our balance in Imola. Roman Staněk posted a positive seventh place in qualifying. The Czech driver had no chance to compete in the Sprint Race, when he went out at the first corner, while he fought well with Maloney in the Feature Race. We are going to Monte Carlo with a lot of determination and focus, knowing that qualifying will be even more important on the streets of the Principality.”
