Meguetounif and Esterson struggled to find rhythm at Silverstone

The FIA Formula 2 Championship opened the eighth round of the season on the Silverstone track, in the green plains of Northamptonshire with today’s Sprint Race. Since the qualifying session, the Trident Motorsport drivers Sami Meguetounif and Max Esterson could not found an assertive rhythm on the iconic English circuit, with the driver from Marseille in thirteenth position and the American in fourteenth.

Starting from the back compromised the chances of doing well for the Trident Motorsport drivers, who authored a race far from the top positions. When the lights went out, both drivers lost ground. While Meguetounif later managed to recover a position, finishing thirteenth, Esterson spun on the final lap while battling with an opponent, finishing the Sprint Race twenty-first.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Feature Race, the Trident Motorsport drivers will be able to take advantage of the mandatory pit stop to try to differentiate their strategy and aim for the points. It will be important to remedy the problems that slowed down the two drivers today.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “We are not satisfied with today’s result. Our cars did not show a competitive pace on the Silverstone track, and our drivers were unable to perform a good qualifying. In the Sprint Race, Sami Meguetounif took thirteenth place, showing a solid pace at times. Max Esterson spun in the final stages of the race and finished in the back”.
