Montmeló, forbidden to slow down

Do not slow down. After the ups and downs of Imola and the fascinating albeit treacherous streets of Monaco, the FIA Formula 3 Championship faces the second back-to-back of the season. The fifth round of the season, the third on European soil, is scheduled at the Montmeló. Trident Motorsport arrives in Spain leading the standings for both Teams and Drivers with the aim of having another competitive weekend.

On the streets of the Principality, the drivers of the Milanese team, with operational headquarters in Ossona, have collected less than expected. Nevertheless, Rafael Câmara firmly maintains the lead in the Drivers’ overall standings. The nineteen-year-old Brazilian from the Ferrari Driver Academy is thirteen points ahead of his first direct rival.

The protagonist of a weekend of light and shade in Monaco, Noah Strømsted now occupies fourth place in the standings, having not collected any points on Monegasque soil. The seventeen-year-old Dane is now twenty-five points behind his teammate Câmara.

Charlie Wurz certainly also has good prospects in Catalonia, having taken sixth place in the Sprint Race on the streets of the Principality.

The Catalonian track has no secrets, as it is also the venue for the collective test sessions of the series. Both the drivers and the technical staff know the Montmelò track very well. Since we are at the halfway point of the championship, a perfect weekend will be needed in Spain to continue the season with momentum.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “The championship does not allow for any breaks. Immediately after Imola and Monte Carlo, here is Barcelona, a demanding and technical track that we know very well, as it is often the scene of collective tests for the category. The competition will be very close and every detail could be decisive. We are going to Barcelona intending to have a competitive weekend and strengthen our leadership in the rankings”.

The engines of the FIA Formula 3 Championship single-seaters will start on Friday at 9:55 when the 45-minute free practice session is scheduled. Qualifying is scheduled for the same day at 15:00. Saturday will be the turn of the Sprint Race, at 10:05. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 8:30. The activity on the track will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F.1.
