No points at the end of a race rich in incidents and interruptions

The Feature Race, which concluded the fifth round of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship, held on the Monaco street circuit, did not yield any points to Trident Motorsport. The longer race of the weekend was characterised by two red flags and two neutralisations that broke up the action on the track, making the race extremely chaotic.

The first dramatic turn of events came as soon as the traffic lights went out, when a tangle at the first corner of Sainte-Dévote involved numerous drivers. One of the drivers having the worst part in the multiple collision was Max Esterson, who was forced to retire due to the damage to his car. Sami Meguetounif, on his side, managed to rejoin the race at the new start.

After the long break to allow the marshals to remove the damaged cars, the twenty-year-old from Marseille started from twelfth place, behind the safety car.

During the tire change, Sami Meguetounif activated the speed limit late, incurring a five-second penalty. A small hitch during the tire change did not make the pit stop very fast. For this reason, the French driver finished in thirteenth place.

Trident Motorsport will have the chance to redeem itself next weekend when the FIA Formula 2 Championship stops on the Spanish circuit of Montmelò.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Principal: “Max Esterson was forced to retire in the multiple accident at the start. Sami Meguetounif managed to show up for the second start, but he activated the speed limit in the pit lane late and was penalised with five seconds. Furthermore, a small snag did not make the tyre change particularly quick. It was, for us, an uphill weekend. Our aim is to be competitive next weekend in Barcelona”.
