Rain prevents Trident from extending its lead

Nothing could be done. Heavy rain on the Spa-Francorchamps track forced race officials to prematurely end the FIA Formula 3 Championship Feature Race. A real shame for the Trident Motorsport drivers, who were aiming to repeat yesterday's superb performance in the Sprint Race.
Adverse weather conditions initially saw the drivers take to the track in torrential rain, but already on the warm-up lap, there were several accidents and off-track excursions. With the red flag out, the drivers of the F3 series returned to the pits to wait for the weather to improve.
After about half an hour, the race finally got underway behind the safety car. But two laps were enough for further errors and off-track excursions to force race officials to put an early end to the Feature Race. As only two laps behind the safety car were completed, the race awarded nopoints.
A real shame for Rafael Câmara, who, starting from second on the grid, could have further extended his championship lead. Having staged a strong comeback in Saturday's Sprint Race, the 20-year-old Brazilian was aiming for the top step of the podium today.
The other Trident Motorsport drivers, Charlie Wurz and Noah Strømsted, classified eighth and ninth, respectively. After his overwhelming victory in the Sprint Race, Strømsted would have liked to shine in the longest race of the Belgian weekend.
At the end of the Walloon weekend, Trident Motorsport remains at the top of the Teams' Championship, while Rafael Câmara holds a firm lead in the overall Drivers' Championship, with a 28-point gap over his nearest rival. All eyes are now on next week when the FIA Formula 3 Championship heads to Hungary for the ninth and penultimate round of the season.
