Second back-to-back of the season in the demanding Monaco track

Without a moment's rest: from the scenic ups and downs of Imola, the FIA Formula 2 Championship moves to the most glamorous, but also the most feared circuit of the entire season. The Monaco street circuit will host the second back-to-back event of the season.

Both Trident Motorsport drivers are coming off a positive trip to Imola. At the end of an intense and spirited race, Sami Meguetounif scored his first point of the season by finishing the Feature Race in tenth place. The twenty-year-old from Marseille arrives in Monaco intending to build on his positive streak of results.

Max Esterson also had two solid races in Italy. Forced to start at the back due to the premature interruption of the qualifying session, the twenty-two-year-old American showed a good pace in both races, making several overtaking moves and a good comeback considering that Imola is a circuit where it is always difficult to overtake.

Monaco is the toughest street circuit of the calendar, one where you brush against barriers and guardrails, and the slightest mistake is paid dearly. Considering the difficulties in overtaking, qualifying will be very important. Trident Motorsport has a good tradition in the Principality: in 2024, it took pole position and proved to be extremely competitive in the race.

Both Trident Motorsport drivers aim to have a competitive weekend. The preparation work has been, as usual, meticulous and accurate; now it will be important to confirm the execution phase by the technical staff and drivers.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “The Monte Carlo track is extremely challenging and treacherous. The difficulties in overtaking make qualifying crucial. It will be important for our drivers to find a good feeling with the track in the free practice session and have a competitive qualifying session, to create the conditions to be protagonists in the race. Twelve months ago, we took pole position on Monegasque soil, and this year too we will give our all to help our drivers have a competitive weekend”.

The engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship single-seaters will start on Thursday at 3:00 pm, when the 45-minute free practice session is scheduled. Qualifying is scheduled for Friday, divided into two sessions, from 3:10 pm. On Saturday, the Sprint Race will kick off at 2:15 pm. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 9:40 am. The on-track activity will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F.1.
