Sprint Race, three points for Trident Motorsport's comeback

The FIA Formula 3 Championship returned to the legendary Monza circuit, which hosts this weekend the final round of the 2025 season. In a qualifying session affected by traffic and divided into two groups, the Trident Motorsport drivers failed to make their mark. Newly crowned series champion Rafael Câmara, who contested the qualifying’s first session, had his only fast lap cancelled for exceeding track limits. The 20-year-old Brazilian was thus forced to start the Sprint Race from the back row.

The other Trident Motorsport drivers fared no better. Forced to make their final run without the aid of slipstreams, which are crucial on the fast Monza circuit, Charlie Wurz posted the fifteenth fastest time, while Noah Strømsted finished nineteenth after setting the fastest time on the first lap. In light of their qualifying results, the Trident Racing drivers took the track in the Sprint Race aiming to make up ground and aim for the Teams' title.

Charlie Wurz staged a strong comeback. Forced to start from fifteenth on the grid, the Austrian driver immediately felt at ease on the fast yet challenging Monza track. Wurz then climbed through the field, moving into the points. But with three laps to go, while he was firmly in eighth place, the Austrian was rammed by a rival and ended the race in the escape road.

Noah Strømsted then took over. Delivering a solid performance, the seventeen-year-old Dane was well-prepared for the restart, which occurred on the final lap, and went on to finish eighth in the Sprint Race. This result earned Trident Motorsport three crucial championship points. Indeed, with only tomorrow's Feature Race remaining before the end of the championship, the Ossona-based team boasts a fifteen-point advantage over its closest rival in the Teams' standings.

Rafael Câmara also had a comeback race. Forced to start from the back row of the grid, the newly crowned FIA Formula 3 Championship champion mounted a solid comeback. With pinpoint-accurate overtaking maneuvers and perfect timing in managing the two safety carperiods, the twenty-year-old Brazilian crossed the finish line in twelfth place, also setting the fastest lap of the race.

Ahead of tomorrow's Feature Race, Trident Motorsport is fully equipped to aim for the FIA Formula 3 Championship Teams’ title. Beyond the advantage of racing in the team’s home circuit, and the support of the many fans present in Monza, the drivers' determination will be crucial to successfully tackle the final round of the season.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “The qualifying result impacted our performance today. Rafael Câmara's best time was disallowed for violating track limits. Noah Strømsted and Charlie Wurtzalso had a competitive pace, but were unable to exploit their slipstreams. In the race, Charlie Wurz was in the points when he was hit by another car. Noah Strømsted lost time in the early stages of the race and finished tenth. Rafael Câmara, who started from last on the grid, fought back to finish twelfth.”
