The FIA F2 championship will commence next weekend in Australia

The new season of the FIA Formula 2 Championship will kick off in Australia next weekend, with fourteen events that will keep the teams busy for nine months around the world. For the first time in the history of the category, the season will start from the semi-permanent circuit of Albert Park in Melbourne.
This year too, the championship promises to be very open, with numerous rookie drivers who will challenge those who have already had at least one season behind them. After the three-day pre-season test in Barcelona, from 24 to 26 February, the cards will finally be on the table in Australia. Trident Motorsport will be at the start of the championship with a renewed line-up and, aiming at having a competitive season.
The team based in Milan and with its operational headquarters in Ossona has confirmed the American Max Esterson, who debuted in the last two races of last year with the Italian team. For Sami Meguetounif, instead, it will be his second season defending the colours of Trident Motorsport. The twenty-year-old born in Marseille will be making his debut in the category after racing last year in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with the Ossona-based team, obtaining two prestigious victories at Imola and Monza and closing the season in eighth position. The Frenchman set the best time on the last day of testing in Catalonia, obtaining the eighth-fastest time overall.

We have carried out intense preparation work over the winter months and collected good feedback during the pre-season tests held in Barcelona. Now we will give our best to open the season with a competitive weekend from our drivers”.
The engines of the FIA Formula 2 Championship single-seaters will start on Friday at 10:00 when the 45-minute free practice session is scheduled. Qualifying is scheduled for the same day, at 17:30. The Sprint Race will be on Saturday at 2.15 pm. Finally, the Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 11.30 am. The track activity will be broadcast live on Sky Sport F.1. The times are in local time (GMT+10).
