The Hungaroring circuit will be home to the third round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine this weekend

The Hungaroring circuit, located on the outskirts of Budapest, will be home to the third round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine this weekend. At the Hungarian venue, Roman Bilinski handed the team its first podium finish in the Alpine and ACI Sport promoted series in 2022. Back then, Bilinski secured third place in race 1.

In 2023, Trident quickly repeated the same result with Nikhil Bohra capturing third place in the opening round at Imola, while Bilinski and Owen Tangavelou faced a tough season start. The British racer of Polish origins can quickly be back fighting on top at Hungaroring.

“I’m really looking forward to Hungary! As we know, last year it was our strongest track, and where we scored our maiden FRECA podium, so I will try my best to replicate this result in 2023. I know the team is giving everything, and I’m also giving everything, so I’m confident we can perform well and hopefully, we can get an even better result than last year. It’s time to score some big points!”

What are the secrets and the elements needed to be on the podium in Hungaroring?

“I don’t think there is any big secret, and if there is, for sure I wouldn’t want to give them out. But I think it’s about getting a clean lap in qualifying, not being too close to the car in front as the dirty air will really affect the car, especially around this track. It’s a very flowy circuit, so just be very smooth on the car and on the tires I think will play a big part in the overall lap time”.

The start of the season was far from ideal for you, do you and the team already have a plan to bounce back?

“The start of the season was not how we wanted to be. My driving’s been good, the car’s been fast, we’ve just been very unfortunate and things out of our hands happened. It’s not great, but this is Motorsport. Sometimes things go wrong, and you can’t control them, but we are all pushing hard. Our luck will turn, and when it does we will be there and we will be fighting where we need to be”.

Compared to your rookie season, do you feel you and the team are more mature this year?

“I think the team, and I are stronger this year. I think there’s a lot we haven’t been able to show that we will be able to show in the later rounds. As I said as soon as our luck will be on our side I’m sure we will be able to show how we really improved from last year!”
