Trident, first four points of the season with Richard Verschoor

The Feature Race concluded the second round of the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship on the sunny and windy city track of Jeddah, which had a completely different outcome for the two Trident Motorsport drivers compared to yesterday. Roman Staněk, who started from P11 on the grid, had his line blocked by a spinning car exiting the first corner and was unable to avoid contact. The 20-year-old Czech racer was forced to retire only a few hundred meters after the start.

Richard Verschoor, who was disqualified after his Sprint Race win due to an irregular throttle mapping, started well from P8 on the grid. The 23-year-old Dutchman returned to the pit lane after six laps to fit Prime tyres, with which he finished the race. During the tire change, due to confusion in the pit lane and traffic, Verschoor lost valuable seconds and, once his main rivals had completed the mandatory stop, he found himself outside the top 10.

From that moment, thanks to a solid race pace and some good overtaking, Verschoor fought back to P8 which delivered Trident Motorsport its first points of the season. Now the championship is taking a short break. The next round of the season is scheduled on March 22nd and 23rd at Melbourne.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, Feature Race Quote: “We collected the first four points of our season thanks to Verschoor's eighth place in the Feature Race. We are happy to have improved our ranking. However, today's results do not reflect our potential and do not satisfy us entirely. The Dutch driver lost time when due to traffic in the pit lane at his pit-stop, but managed to recover with a convincing final part of the race featuring good overtaking action, and managed to secure the points zone. Unfortunately, Staněk was involved in a collision in the opening corner in which his car was damaged beyond repair."
