Trident had a positive start at Monza: the team finish in top 5
Trident had a positive start at Monza, home to the seventh round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The Italian squad performed impressively on its home circuit and delivered a top 5 finish in race 1.
On Saturday afternoon, Nikhil Bohra had a lightning start and was already in the points zone after one lap. The Singaporean took advantage of the battles and other people’s mistakes, improving his position until he crossed the finish line in P5.
After a brilliant qualifying session, which ended with fourth place in Group A, Owen Tangavelou defended himself well at the start and managed all the safety-car situations to perfection. His performance allowed him to finish sixth. On the other hand, Roman Bilinski had a race full of obstacles, but he is ready to bounce back on Sunday.
Nikhil Bohra:
“I think it was a very chaotic race. I capitalized on the first two corners, and after that, I tried to survive. I was lucky - although I wouldn't define myself as such - because, behind me, someone ended up spinning. Then, on the following lap, three drivers collided and retired. I thought about saving myself, avoiding any kind of trouble, and collecting important points for the championship. I hope to start further to the front later tomorrow and not have any kind of contact or crash."
Owen Tangavelou:
“I didn't have a positive start, so some cars managed to pass me, but after the various restarts behind the safety car, I recovered some positions, also thanks to other people's crashes. In the last few laps, I was fighting for sixth place, but it was really tough. I think I was lucky to collect some points, but I'm happy to have done it."
Roman Bilinski:
“After qualifying, I was very much looking forward to the race. We were really fast in cornering. Unfortunately, I stalled at the start. Then, I recovered 12 positions, but I wasn't able to score any points. I apologize to the whole team. Tomorrow, we have a fresh start again to show our full potential."
