Trident Motorsport achieves points finish with Roman Staněk

Trident Motorsport achieved a valuable points finish today with Roman Staněk, running in the feature race that sealed off the 12th and penultimate round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship weekend.

After setting the third and 20th fastest lap times of qualifying respectively, Roman Staněk and Clément Novalak experienced a completely different Sunday from one another. The Frenchman, who won the Feature Race in the previous round at Zandvoort, ended his day in the gravel of Lesmo 2 during the opening lap, while the Czech had a very eventful run. A defensive maneuver on the first lap cost Staněk a five-second penalty, which was served during the pit-stop. As a result of the penalty, he dropped from fourth place to the middle of the pack.

Staněk had his day complicated by ending in the runoff area of the first chicane, which cost the 21-year-old time and positions. Thanks to a solid final part of the race though, he managed to bounce back up to a positive tenth place and enter the points zone after doing so in the Sprint Race.

The series now takes a long break: the FIA Formula 2 Championship will be back on the third weekend of November at Yas Marina for the season finale.

Giacomo Ricci
, Team Manager, Feature Race quote:

"Our drivers had completely different races today. While Novalak was forced to retire by an off in the opening lap, Staněk starred in an eventful race, which also featured a five-second penalty for defending with too much decision from the attacks of a competitor during the first lap. He was eventually able to finish in the points zone. His race pace was extremely solid. Unfortunately, he could not take full advantage of the P3 spot achieved in qualifying, only 0.206s away from pole. In any case, we welcome his tenth place, that allows us to improve our points score again."
