Trident ready for a brand-new Monza

The challenging Monza track will be hosting the 11th round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship season this weekend. Moving past the previous event at the legendary and spectacular Spa-Francorchamps circuit, and after a one-month break, the series will be back on another high-speed historical venue which notably offers good chances for overtaking. On the other hand, DRS trains often happen on the long straights of Monza which makes it hard for the competitors to make the difference.

Monza requires a specific approach due to its unique characteristics, and it’s difficult to compare it with any other circuit. This year, the new tarmac laid down during a round of upgrades will force teams to find new references in terms of grip, traction and tyre wear. The kerbs were also revised in multiple locations and that will require set-up changes. There will be a lot to find out for the teams and how quickly they will manage the new variables will influence the outcome of the weekend especially in qualifying which, in a really balanced championship, is always crucial.

Richard Verschoor will line up on the team’s home track to continue his positive form of late. The Dutchman secured a third and a fifth place on the Belgian circuit, where he claimed a total of 13 points. On the other hand, Roman Staněk has not been entering the points zone since the Sprint Race at Silverstone. The goal for them will be to deliver competitive runs during the weekend. The home crowd will provide further motivation for the team and drivers to give their 100 percent focus and determination at the Italian Temple of Speed.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “It’s always particularly exciting to line up for the home race. After some time off during the summer break, the drivers and the team’s technical staff were busy preparing for the second Italian round of the year. Monza is a unique track and requires a very specific preparation. In addition, the revised kerbs and tarmac bring more variables on the table that need to be taken into account. I saw a lot of passion, commitment and determination during the work ahead of this fascinating event. Our goal will be to deliver a competitive weekend with both drivers".

The FIA Formula 2 Championship will start its run with a 45-minute practice session on Friday at 11:00 AM, while qualifying will be later the same day at 16:00. The Sprint Race will be on Saturday at 14:15. The weekend-ending Feature Race is set to start on Sunday 10:05 AM. All the action will be televised live by the Sky Sports network.
