Trident scores P10 with Verschoor in 2024 opener

The FIA Formula 2 Championship opened its first round of the 2024 season on the challenging Sakhir track, hosting the Sprint Race today. The qualifying session did not give particular satisfaction to Trident Motorsport, with Roman Staněk in P20 and Richard Verschoor in P16 due to a set-up that was not yet optimal for the new F2 car, on which all the teams are still working. At the start, the Dutch driver immediately moved up to P14, while Staněk was in P19. Lap after lap, the pace of the expert Dutchman driver became more competitive.
In the final stages, Verschoor entered the top 10 fight and managed to grab tenth place. Staněk had a less linear race than his teammate and was forced to stop by a technical problem that the team is investigating. Now the Trident Motorsport technical staff will use the data collected in the Sprint Race to prepare for the Feature Race, scheduled for tomorrow at 13:30 local time, GMT+3, a few hours before the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, Sprint Race Quote: “We are not satisfied with today's results. We have not yet found the right chemistry with the new car and, for this reason, we have not been able to give our drivers a vehicle capable of doing more than what they have achieved. Verschoor's tenth position today is a valid starting point, we are still in the learning curve of the new car. On the other hand, Staněk was forced to retire due to a technical problem, which we are investigating."
