Trident scores points at Paul Ricard with De Palo and Bhirombhakdi

In the second race of the Formula Regional European by Alpine at Paul Ricard near Le Castellet, the Trident team secured points with two of its three drivers: Matteo De Palo and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi. Qualifying second in his group, equivalent to fourth overall, De Palo finished Race 2 in sixth place, gaining further important points for the overall standings.
De Palo now sits second in the championship, 20 points behind Freddie Slater. Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi performed well, starting 13th and finishing an excellent ninth at the checkered flag. This is the second top 10 finish this season for the Thai. Unfortunately, Ruiqi Liu was unlucky again, as he fell victim of an early collision. The next round is in Imola on the weekend of August 3rd.
Matteo De Palo: “It hasn’t been one of the easiest weeks at Paul Ricard. We’ve always struggled a bit in the races, while in qualifying, on the single lap, the pace wasn’t too bad in the end. We had a tough time in both races and lacked a bit of speed to really fight for the top positions. Still, these are important points for the championship. We’ll try to come back stronger in Imola”.
Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi: “After a tough weekend where I couldn’t really extract the performance from myself and the car, I’m happy I managed to score some points in Race 2 by finishing ninth after starting thirteenth. Overall, I’m happy with the recovery throughout the whole weekend. I’m sure that if we keep working hard, things will keep improving and even stronger results will come”.
Ruiqi Liu: “We lacked speed today. We had a good start in the race, but contact on lap one really killed our performance. The next race will be better”.
