Trident scores points finish In Race 2 at Hockenheim
Race 2 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at Hockenheim was disrupted by several safety-car situations, which conditioned most of today's running. Of the 15 laps that were planned, only three were completed at full speed, while the others took place behind three neutralizations due to crashes.
Making the most out of the chaotic situation, Trident collected another top-10 finish after Roman Bilinski's P9 on Race 1. This time, it was Nicola Lacorte who scored points in P10, capping his debut weekend in the series in the best possible way. Roman Bilinski finished close behind in P11, while Ruiqi Liu ended up in P18.
The start of the day was already complicated as in Qualifying 2 the final results underwent changes due to track limits penalties given and then rescinded. Lacorte delivered an excellent session run with P8 overall and P4 in Group B. Bilinski placed 17th overall (going on to a remarkable recovery). Liu started 22nd and gained four positions in the little green-flag running available.
Nicola Lacorte:“It was my first race in this series. We got a bit of a slow start in practice, but before going into qualifying, we managed to square ourselves up with the car for qualifying. I'm satisfied with the work we have done, and we improved quite a bit since testing. Qualifying 1 and Race 1 didn't go as planned but we learned a lot. We performed a lot better in Qualifying 2 and Race 2, where we managed to bring home one point. I'm confident for Spa, we can fight to stay at the front.
Roman Bilinski:“Overall, a weekend with lots of ups and downs. I think there's a lot of potential there which is really important for us in the team and shows we're in good step for Spa. Me and the team will be pushing as hard as we can to be in a good position there. We can take some positives out of a not-so-positive weekend and be fully ready for Spa. Thank you very much to Trident, let's keep pushing and see what we can do”.
Ruiqi Liu:"It was my debut in FRECA. It was quite up-and-down but we made big steps from the free practice to the first qualifying and another step today, so very positive, also because one tenth can mean a much better position. Yesterday it was really good, while today we were a bit unlucky with the safety cars so we didn't really have any chance to make up positions. We hope for an even better run in Spa!"
