Trident scores points finish with Meguetounif and Fornaroli

The FIA Formula 3 Championship got back into action on the traditional Silverstone venue, which is home to round 7 of the 2024 series this weekend. In a hard-fought qualifying session, conditioned by changing weather conditions, the Trident Motorsport drivers posted positive results. Sami Meguetounif claimed third place, followed by Leonardo Fornaroli in fourth, while Santiago Ramos ended up in P18.

With the reversed top-12 grid mandated for the sprint race, Fornaroli started from P9, while Meguetounif, who had to serve a penalty, took off from P13 and Ramos started from P18. As the lights went off, Fornaroli had a bad start and was pushed out at the first corner, falling down to P18. Meguetounif moved up to P10, while Ramos was hit by a competitor. He was forced to return to the pits and replace a tyre.

After just three laps, a crash caused a safety-car situation, which helped Fornaroli to move up to P15. After the restart, Meguetounif was involved in multiple battles and climbed up to eighth place, while Fornaroli's recovery enabled him to enter the top 10. The early puncture prevented Ramos from going beyond P19. At the end of today's race, Fornaroli dropped to fourth place in the championship standings.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, Sprint Race Quote:“We are clearly not satisfied with the outcome of today's race. The results achieved by our drivers were affected by some episodes. Fornaroli got off to a bad start and went off-line at the first corner, dropping from P9 to P18. From that point, he began a great recovery run that allowed him to finish in the 10th position. Meguetounif climbed from 13th place to P8, while Santiago Ramos had his race jeopardized by a rear-end collision that caused him a puncture. We will have two cars on the second row in tomorrow’s Feature Race and we hope to secure a better result."
