Trident set for Freca 2024 opener at Hockenheim

Trident will be lining up for its third consecutive Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season, which will be kicking off this weekend at Hockenheim. As in recent years, the series will run on 10 rounds. The series runners will be competing at some of the most prestigious European venues.

The team, led by Maurizio Salvadori, secured the 2022 Rookie title with Leonardo Fornaroli and will continue to field a three-car lineup. Roman Bilinski will return behind the wheel of a Trident-prepared Tatuus car for the third time with the clear goal of aiming for top positions. The English driver of Polish heritage gave the team its first podium in the series in 2022. His experience will be crucial for the development of the car.

Alpine Junior Nicola Lacorte will compete alongside him. The 16-year-old Italian driver will make his Formula Regional debut after a year of learning in Formula 4. Another rookie, Chinese Ruiqi Liu, will be driving the team's third car. He is also making his debut in the competitive championship after gaining experience in F4, and like Lacorte, he already carried out a series of promising tests in preparation for the 2024 season.

Round 1 will take place in Hockenheim, home the last two days of pre-season testing on the 24th and 25th of April, and will begin on Friday with two 50-minute free practice sessions. The first qualifying session will be on Saturday at 11.15 AM and the inaugural race of the 2024 season will be at 17.40 later that day. The same program will be repeated on Sunday, with Q2 at 10.15 AM and the Race 2 at 16.10.
