Trident stars at Mugello as Belov claims P6 in race 1

Trident was among the stars of the day in the first Italian race of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at Mugello, home to the fifth round of the season. Temporarily replacing injured Roman Bilinski, Michael Belov took sixth place in the opening race on Saturday. Starting from row 4 in P7, the experienced Belov immediately gained a position and held it until the checkered flag.
Having started running for Trident in the previous trip to Budapest, where he scored P11 and P12 in the two races, Belov achieved a top-10 finish for the first time this year, earning 8 valuable points for the team classification.
Ruiqi Liu did a good job too. The Chinese rookie set the P14 overall out of 33 participants in qualifying 1, showing evident progress. In race 1 he then finished in P13, keeping a good pace.
Italian Nicola Lacorte, who is also in his first year in the series, was unlucky in qualifying 1 as he was forced to slow down by a yellow flag and started in P20. He later ended the race in the same position after being rear-ended by a competitor.
