Trident stays in the points zone at Mugello

The second race of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at Mugello Circuit was once again a positive one for the Trident team. Coming from a sixth place achieved by Michael Belov on Saturday's Race 1, the operation, led by Maurizio Salvadori, got back into the points zone on Sunday.
This time, it was rookie Ruiqi Liu who achieved a brilliant P10 finish. He showcased huge determination and good overtaking skills after taking off from the 13th position. For the young Chinese driver, whose competitive progress has been evident from race to race, it is the second time into the top-10 after the ninth place he got in Race 1 at Budapest
Belov crossed the finish line in P12, the same one he was in at the start. Unfortunately, Belov was clearly impeded by a competitor in qualifying while completing a lap that would have projected him into a very different position in the standings. Starting from the sixth row, he lost ground in a chaotic situation and slipped to P17. Still, he did not back down and recovered up to P12 at the finish.
Nicola Lacorte, who was P25 at the start, fought at the back of the pack and, regained five positions. The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will return to action this coming weekend. The sixth of the ten rounds for 2024 will take place at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet.
