Trident takes another points finish in Race 2 at Imola
The Trident team posted another points finish at Imola after claiming ninth place in Race 1 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine on Saturday. Roman Bilinski, who made it into the top 10 in Race 1 returning from a three-month hiatus due to injury, continued to impress in wet conditions on Sunday. The British driver of Polish heritage fought back from 13th place and kept his nose clean to deliver seventh place overall. It was another promising result ahead of the final part of the year for him. Nicola Lacorte also delivered a solid run, recovering from the 24th to the 13th place. An unfortunate mistake made Ruiqi Liu drop outside the top 10. Roman Bilinski: “Overall it’s been another solid day here in Imola, securing another top-10 result with a P7 in Race 2. Qualifying again was a little bit tricky, I need to fix a few stuff on my side to be back in the very top positions. Still, we can be happy with more points for the championship, thanks to Trident and everybody who helped me out to come back in the car”.
Nicola Lacorte: “It’s been a tough weekend already starting from free practice, as I struggled a bit with the driving to get close to the limit. In FP2 I got taken out by another car, so I couldn’t test the new tires. For this reason, I struggled a lot in Q1 and Q2. In the first race, I managed to recover as much as possible in lap 1, but then it was tough to make any other move. In Race 2 we showed a very good pace in the rain and I was able to quickly adapt the driving style. Also good job by the team with the tire pressure, the car was great and I was able to recover from P24 to P13. Bittersweet weekend overall”.
Ruiqi Liu: “Positive weekend for me. Qualifying 1 was compromised by the red flag. We expected the last push to be really good but I was not able to show it. The first race was not ideal, as I wasn’t able to maximize my performance. Today I had an issue with my feet in Qualifying 2. I still managed to make a good comeback from P23 already to P10, but then a mistake just cost us a few points. I’m happy we showed a really good speed in the wet. We have to keep working this way and fight back in Red Bull Ring”.
