Trident takes third place with Verschoor

The FIA Formula 2 Championship kicked off the tenth round of the season yesterday at Spa-Francorchamps, as the F2 drivers entered the Sprint Race. The running began on a damp track, which caused drivers to experience grip issues. In qualifying, Trident Motorsport drivers Richard Verschoor and Roman Staněk ended up in P8 and P21 respectively. The Czech racer reported a brake issue. With the top-10 qualifying finishers in reverse positions for the grid of the Sprint Race, Verschoor started from third place, while Staněk took off from P20.

Due to a car being stuck on the racing line, the stewards opted for a safety car. At that point, the rain started to fall with greater intensity, forcing the safety car to stay on the track until the race was eventually called. The 22-year-old Dutchman thus finished in third place. Roman Staněk classified himself in P20.

There will be good opportunities for the Trident Motorsport drivers in the Feature Race, scheduled for today at 10:00. The mandatory tyre change will allow the team to use strategies to make a difference.

Giacomo Ricci, team manager:“We are pleased to have once again secured the podium at Spa with Richard Verschoor, repeating the third place we secured with him last weekend in the Feature Race at Budapest. He is having a growing second part of the season, despite the disqualification in the Sprint Race at Hungaroring, which deprived him of a points finish. It will now be key to provide a competitive performance in tomorrow's Feature Race to conclude this very challenging period, which brought us on track in five of the last six weekends”.
