Trident wins again in Sakhir with Rafael Câmara

The Feature Race that closed the second weekend of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, held in Sakhir, confirmed the solid form of Trident Motorsport. The team with operational headquarters in Ossona took victory with Rafael Câmara in the main race of the Bahraini weekend. Trident Motorsport leaves the second round of the season at the top of both the Teams and Drivers standings.

Rafael Câmara, who started from pole position, initially dueled to maintain the lead of the race. Taking the reins of the race, the nineteen-year-old Brazilian then pulled away from his opponents. Despite his young age, the Ferrari Driver Academy driver demonstrated the coolness of a veteran by managing tyre wear in the best possible way. Câmara also set the fastest lap in today's race. The second win in the Feature Race, after the one obtained in Melbourne, allows the Brazilian of Trident Racing to extend his lead in the general standings of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, where he is twenty-six points clear from  his closest rival.

Noah Strømsted took a solid sixth place in the long race on the Bahrain International Circuit. Starting from the seventh place on the grid, the seventeen-year-old Dane showed his potential in close fighting with rivals. Starring a good start to the race, Charlie Wurz was then slowed down by excessive tyre wear, finishing eleventh.

Now the series will take a month off. The next round is scheduled from May 16 to 18 on the Imola circuit.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, commented: “It was a good performance by the team, as we won also the second Feature Race of the season with Rafael Câmara. Our driver was good at regaining the first position lost at the start, and managed very well a race characterized by very high temperatures and degradation. Câmara's race was faultless and so a new victory arrived, to which we add the sixth place of Strømsted, who lost time in several moments of very close racing. Eleventh place for Wurz, whose tyres were gone at the end of the race, after a good start. It's only the second race of the year, we must continue to work with maximum determination and concentration if we want to continue at this level, given that the competition is very fierce”.
